Ceremony Honors B体育官网入口 Students Completing Degree and Certificate Programs

B体育官网入口 recently celebrated its Spring 2025 graduates who earned Bachelor's degrees, Associate in Science (A.S.) and Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degrees, and Certificates. The was held May 2 in the Northwest Campus Gymnasium.

President Paul Broadie II opened the event, commending the graduates for their resilience and determination. He highlighted students who overcame significant challenges, including veterans, first-generation college students and others who found strength in adversity.

Among them was Adrian Price, who turned his life around after spending 12 years incarcerated. Price now graduates with a 3.92 GPA, having led peer support efforts for justice-impacted students and mentored at-risk youth while preparing for a healthcare career.

Sergio Rios lost his business to a cyberattack in Colombia before moving to the United States. After learning English, he enrolled in the IT program at B体育官网入口, earned a scholarship to the University of Florida, and now works in the tech industry while supporting his family.

鈥淐lass of 2025,鈥 Dr. Broadie said, 鈥測ou embody resilience.鈥

 

Graduates also heard from keynote speaker Jordan Morang, who shared his journey from B体育官网入口 student to Director of Workforce Innovation and Policy at the Manufacturing Institute in Washington, D.C. Morang, who earned his A.A. in political science at SF, praised the graduates for their achievement.

鈥淲hat you just completed is indispensable,鈥 he said, 鈥渘ot only for you, but also for your community.鈥

He encouraged the class to move forward with pride, whether they were starting a new job, continuing their education or taking time to rest.

鈥淵ou did something hard, something important,鈥 he said. 鈥淵ou鈥檝e added to your story for the better, and that鈥檚 worth celebrating.鈥

The ceremony also included recognition of honors graduates by Provost J. Nathaniel Southerland and Vice President of Student Affairs Naima Brown. Dr. Broadie conferred the degrees before the ceremony concluded with the Walk of Honor, as faculty and staff applauded the new graduates.
