B体育官网入口 Receives Grant for Third Habitat House

Plum Creek Foundation awarded Alachua Habitat for Humanity a grant in the amount of $10,000 toward construction of the B体育官网入口 III Habitat for Humanity home Wednesday. The B体育官网入口 III will be built starting in September at B体育官网入口's Charles R. Perry Construction Institute.

This will be the third Habitat for Humanity home built on the B体育官网入口 Campus. The house will be constructed by the B体育官网入口 Building Construction Management Technology Classes and other groups of Student Builders, Habitat Volunteers, and Apprenticeship Students. The house will be built indoors in two sections. When complete, each be lifted by a crane onto a trailer and transported to the permanent home site, then lifted by a crane onto the foundation.

During a recent visit to B体育官网入口, FDOE Chancellor Rod Duckworth mentioned this program as being a national model for cooperation between education and business.

"It's a great example of what education should look like," Duckworth said. "It's win win win."
